Anderson Regional Medical Center Reaches Definitive Agreement to Merge with Riley Hospital

MERIDIAN, MS (December 28, 2010) – Anderson Regional Medical Center confirmed today it has reached a definitive agreement to merge with Riley Hospital, currently owned by Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA), with the transaction expected to be finalized December 31, pending regulatory approvals.

 

According to Anderson President and CEO, L. Ray Humphreys, Anderson will take ownership January 1, 2011, of substantially all of the assets of Riley Hospital. The acquisition will add 140 licensed beds, making Anderson Regional a 400-bed facility - among the largest in the state and region. Anderson will add several key service lines including long-term acute care, wound care, inpatient rehabilitation, a pain management center and enhanced obstetrics services.

Anderson Regional Cancer Center Survival Rate Exceeds National Average

Meridian, Miss. — Anderson Regional Cancer Center has exceeded the national average for the five-year survival rate of Stage III breast cancer cases by 14.5 percent, according to the latest statistics submitted to the National Cancer Database from the Commission on Cancer, which are approved cancer program registries.

Two Anderson Regional Cancer Center Physicians Triple Certified

Two medical oncologists at Anderson Regional Cancer Center are triple certified. “While all of our physicians are certified in various fields, we are especially pleased to announce that J. Reece Jones, MD, and John D. Voss, MD, are triple certified,” said Wayne Herrington, administrator of the Cancer Center. Both are Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.
