We are very appreciative of our volunteers at Anderson Regional Medical Center and Anderson Regional Cancer Center.
Not only do they give their time to volunteer with our patients and visitors, they also give money they collect through fund raising efforts.
This year there will be more than 650 newly diagnosed cancer patients at our institution. Many of them need help in the way of transportation to get to their treatments. Some of them need assistance with medications that some insurance companies do not cover such as pain and nausea meds. There are some that will have to make a choice between buying food or medications.
These are some of the areas where the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund comes in to help. This year the Benevolence Fund will distribute nearly $20,000 to help cancer patients in our area. One-hundred percent of the funds raised through the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund go directly to help cancer patients; none of it is used to pay doctor or hospital bills.
We are very fortunate to have Volunteers who see these needs and help in such a positive way.
