Feeling Confident About Your Care…
Our Well-Baby Nursery provides care for your healthy newborn. You may choose to have your baby remain with you in your room, or you may choose to have your baby return to the nursery periodically so that you may rest.
If any unexpected complications occur, your baby will be attended by our highly skilled professional staff utilizing advanced technology in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including board-certified neonatologists and specially trained nurses, social workers, respiratory, occupational and physical therapists.

Feeling Safe…
Moms and babies can be assured that Special Beginnings offers a safe, nurturing atmosphere for their maternity stay. We take the security of our smallest patients very seriously. Our Nursery Units is a locked unit where only designated personnel can gain access using ID swipe cards.

Feeling Informed…
The childbirth education program at Anderson Regional Medical Center is designed to prepare you and your family for the birth and parenting of your baby. The classes offered by Special Beginnings are complimentary to those planning to deliver their baby at Anderson. Please schedule your classes with our experienced team of maternal/newborn educators and nurses by calling 601-553-6123. Each class lasts approximately two hours. One session will include a tour of the labor, delivery and recovery suites, the newborn nursery and postpartum rooms.

Breastfeeding is the absolute best way to feed your baby because breast milk offers a lifetime of health benefits for both mom and baby.  Our Board Certified Lactation Consultants will provide information on the "why to" and the "how to" of breastfeeding.

Circumcision Information…
If you are having a baby boy, be sure to decide in advance of your delivery if you want him to be circumcised.  The decision to have your baby circumcised is a personal one.  Your doctor is available to discuss the options with you.

Circumcisions are considered an elective procedure and are usually not covered by insurance or Medicaid.  If your insurance will not cover the circumcision, you will need to make arrangements in advance of your delivery.  The cost for this service is $250 for the hospital's fee and must be paid prior to the procedure.  Please check with your doctor for the cost of his or her services for performing the circumcision.  No circumcision shall be performed in the facility without prior arrangements.  You may set up payment, if desired, prior to delivery by contacting our credit department at 601-553-6181.

Thank you for choosing Anderson Regional Medical Center.  We look forward to serving you and your family.
