When your doctor decides you are
ready to leave the hospital, a discharge order will be written.
You may want to make arrangements with a family member or friend
to help you when it is time to go home. Some important things
to remember concerning:
Checkout Time
On most units, checkout time is
2 p.m. Please make every effort to leave by this time. If you
cannot, please notify your nurse so alternate arrangements can
be made. You may be billed for extra time in your room, and this
charge is not covered by most insurance plans.
Hospital Bill
You or a family member should contact
the Business Services Department at extension 6194 and make sure
all insurance forms are signed prior to discharge. For additional
insurance(s) that need to be filed, give policy numbers and addresses
of the companies prior to discharge.
Personal Belongings
Collect all of your belongings
and double check closets and drawers. If you have anything stored
in the hospital safe, call Switchboard Operator by dialing "0"
and a security officer will bring belongings to you.
Discharge Instructions
Your doctor and your nurse will
give you instructions about post-hospital care. If you have questions
about your diet, activities or other matters, please be sure to
ask.

Medications
If you doctor gives you a prescription,
it may be filled in the Anderson Pharmacy or a pharmacy of your
choice.
Escort Service
When you are ready to leave, a
member of the hospital staff will escort you to the designated
area and help you into the car. You will be asked to have a family
member or friend bring the vehicle you will be leaving in to the
designated pick-up area on the first floor of the parking complex.
Please ask them to follow the signs and drive the vehicle as far
as possible into the pick-up lane in order to prevent blocking
traffic in the parking complex.
