Message from CEO
Dear friends of Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center,
As many of you may know, we recently voluntarily suspended mammography services at The Women’s Breast Care Clinic after an annual inspection by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) identified concerns regarding quality control measures.
The investigation focused on documentation and equipment calibration issues. As the review progressed, concerns surfaced that these discrepancies may have impacted the integrity of some of the mammography films.
This does not necessarily mean that the results of examinations were inaccurate. However enough questions surfaced regarding mammograms taken between October 2, 2004 and October 2, 2006 to raise concern. We believe the prudent and responsible action is to encourage patients from that time period to repeat their mammogram.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are recommending that patients who had mammograms at The Women's Breast Care Clinic during this time period be provided a repeat mammogram at another certified mammography facility. If you are one of the affected patients, you will receive more information by certified mail.
We understand and regret that this situation may cause inconvenience – but believe the benefit of this responsible action to repeat mammograms is well worth it. To help expedite this process, JARMC is voluntarily covering the cost of repeat mammograms for the patients who had tests during this time period.
I want to assure all of our patients, their families and members of the community that we are working in conjunction with the FDA to resolve any and all issues related to The Women’s Breast Care Clinic. Our commitment is to keep our physician partners, employees, patients and the community fully informed.
This is the situation as it stands today. Looking forward, our focus is on encouraging repeat tests and then working to resume services once re-certification compliance steps are approved.
I want to emphasize that our hospital was founded on the principles of providing quality health care to all of our patients. Our mission has not changed. We will do everything possible to rectify this situation, move forward and continue providing the highest quality of health care. I personally want to thank each of you for your patience and understanding.
